Perez Ally James Graf

August 24, 2006 Press Headline: DA to investigate alderman; Graf's e-mails may have violated open meetings law -- "The potential violation by Ald. Jim Graf came to light through an open records request by Citizens for Responsible Government-Sheboygan, a group seeking to recall Mayor Juan Perez. " See the EMAILS page to view some of the actual electronic communications.

Monday, June 5, 2006:  Ald. Graf attempts to pass a resolution that consists of nothing more than a re-worded version of the decision made on May 15th by the council that would abolish our police department. Only two alderpersons voted FOR it -- Graf himself, and Ald. Suscha.

Ald. Graf supports Act 40 in September of 2005:

On September 6, 2005, James Bohren submitted a communication that presented an article that ran in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel on August regarding a law that has passed allowing Cities to disband their police departments. Mr. Borhen, not an alderperson at that time, had Ald. Graf present his fodder to the Common Council. Here is how it reads in the Committee Meeting Minutes of September 6, 2005:

Com. No. 53 - 05 - 06. September 6, 2005.
Submitting a communication from James Bohren presenting an article ran in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel on August 26th regarding a law that passed allowing Cities to disband their police departments.
Was presented to the Common Council by Alderperson Graf.
Was referred to the Committee on Public Protection and Safety.

Ald. Graf and the Tourism Committee:

Please note: Perez decides he wants to create a new Tourism Committee, taking the current tourism job away from the Chamber of Commerce.

Ald. Graf originally voted to keep tourism with the Chamber of Commerce.

Ald. Graf decides to change his mind at the 11th hour and votes against keeping tourism with the Chamber of Commerce.

Ald. Graf's wife then gets hired for a position on the NEWLY FORMED TOURISM COMMITTEE, for a grand total of $18.21 per hour. It should also be noted that she was the ONLY candidate, of all those who applied for the position, who had no experience in the field. In fact, based on experience and education, she was the LEAST qualified.

"Taking Toursim out of the hands of the Chamber was a horrible idea in the first place, and Graf knew it. Yet, he allowed personal gain to over rule his duty to do what is best for Sheboygan and it's citizens." Submitted by citizen.

If you haven't seen the new committee's Tourism book, please do get a copy. Then get a copy of the Chamber of Commerce' Guide. There is no comparison. The Chamber did their usual professional job, while this new committee appeared to have theirs done by a local grade school.
