August 11, 2006: Perez comments on allegations regarding the Yolanda Graf Tourism position. Perez states in the Press that the allegations are "an absolute lie," and said members of the recall group are "spreading lies in this community" about Yolanda Graf. The truth is, this has nothing to do with CRG whatsoever. This investigation started in March of 2006, before CRG was even organized. See the Incident Detail Report for more information. Sheboygan Press, Thursday, July 20: "Sheboygan Mayor Juan Perez said Wednesday that phone calls and Internet postings in the wake of a recall effort against him have gotten personal — and racist." Perez Platitude on Abolishing the Police Dept.: "It is not the goal of the city to get rid of the police department. You are listening to gossip and blatant lies. Please consider your source."
Perez lies about Sheridan Park -- This is just one lie, but one that can be proven. He claims he contacted much of the Sheridan Park neighborhood, but the neighborhood people said the opposite. View this information as printed in the Beacon, October 2, 2004, in an article titled The Battle for Sheridan Park (Will open in a new window; quote referenced is down a ways and highlighted in yellow). Another Perez lie about Sheridan Park -- Quote from The Beacon, Tuesday, May 3, 2005: "Once we save Sheridan Park, we'll put a plan together to assure that that area is kept clean and safe," he said, acknowledging concerns from Sheridan Park residents that their neighborhood has been negelcted. Police patrols could increase in the area as well, Perez said, if warrranted. "We can't have people say there is a crime and drug problem and not have anybody address it," he said. "I intend to address it". (It has been ignored since the park was "saved", according to the residents in the Sheridan Park neighborhood). Perez promises to abolish the wheel tax. Read the Perez Pledge on Fiscal Responsibility. (The wheel tax still exists). On Monday Jan 30th 2006, Perez made the following statement: "I was just so tired and really needed to get away for a few days, that I left town as soon as I was done with work..." The person he lied to submitted the information as follows:
I know this is a lie, since I resigned from the Library Board on Jan. 26th, 2006 by leaving the Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m. and going right to his house to turn in my letter of resignation. Perez answered the door, I gave him my letter, he read it, we discussed it for about 5 min. and I left. He was working on his kitchen when I got to his house, pretty much had it tore apart and told me it was his project for the next several days. This was the Library Board Meeting when the Library Director's amended controversial 5 year contract was approved by the Board - I was the only no vote. He did not want to talk to the media about the Library issue, since he was involved in getting it amended and lied about being "out of town". Another recall supporter states that she e-mailed Perez with a request to please consider supporting the Van Der Vaart site for the new police station. In my possession is a copy of the e-mail referred to. It reads as follows: Mr. Perez, You lied. I cannot believe you told the Press a bold-faced lie! I, and several others I know of, e-mailed you and asked you to please support the Van Der Vaart site for the new police station. Now you are quoted in the Press as saying, “...said to date, he has not received any calls or e-mails from people who want the city to stop considering the county land for the station”. (Saturday, September 10, 2005, pg. A3, “Residents divided over merits of 23rd St. Station). That is so untrue! When one says to you, “Please support the Van Der Vaart site for the new police station”, that should be quite clear it is asking you NOT to support the 23rd street site. |
