Please read first! It is important to know that the SCTA, which stands for Sheboygan County Taxpayer Alliance, MUST follow ALL the by-laws of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance. One of the violations of the by-laws is to operate in secret, or "private". Suddenly, and unbeknownst to many who were members of the SCTA at the time, Juan Perez was invited to a meeting. Most of the members had the understanding that the group was to act as a "watchdog"; meaning keeping an eye on the Mayor, as well as other concerns of the community. Now here is where this gets even more intersting...at the meeting referenced in the e-mail below, Perez flew into a rage when he discovered that the media was present to cover the meeting. He proceeded to kick the media out of the meeting and the meeting then took place in "private". Allow me to now reiterate: SCTA by-laws prevent them from going into closed meetings for ANY REASON WHATSOEVER. Following is a copy of the e-mail sent to the SCTA members on this date (many have since left due to their unethical actions; seven remain in the group today). ----- Original Message -----
From: Ernest M. Keppler January 31, 2006 To His Honor Mayor Juan Perez and All SCTA Members: Please find attached the agenda for our next membership meeting; Thursday February 2, 2006. Free parking is available at the lot located on the Northeast corner of 9th St. and Superior Ave. Please note that we will have a guest speaker, Mayor Juan Perez, at this meeting. His honor is scheduled to arrive at approximately 12:00 noon. Consequently we will begin our normal business/meeting at 11:30 AM and will interrupt upon the mayor’s arrival. We will then continue our business meeting after the mayor’s presentation. In addition, just a reminder that we have 3 more Meet the Candidates Forums this week:
I will email a reminder for remaining 3 forums at the appropriate time. The 1st two forums went very well, with approximately 40 in attendance at each. The SCTA Scrapbook is up to date as of this writing and will be available at the Feb. 2 meeting. See you all on Thursday, February 2.
